It's not easy to learn Greek building terms. But if you are building your dream home in Cyprus, you may well find these words invaluable, especially if you have a builder who claims he cannot speak English!
Even if the builder or agent selling you the house speaks good English, the men who do the hard work (brickies/tilers etc) usually don't, so I highly recommend learning 20 or so key words so you can shout at them.
We found that learning a few simple Greek words for various rooms and basic house construction made a world of difference in terms of managing our dream home project.
We were able to communicate with the builder's workers on site when the builder was not present.
Tip: Any builder will only visit the site first thing in the morning, leaving his workers with a list of jobs to do.
These workers rarely speak English so it's vital that you can communicate effectively. We were able to stop a lot of errors
being made just by learning a few simple words.
Remember, as always, put the stress on the part of the word in italics
