Visa requirements on longer stay for guest

I have some guests staying in my holiday apartment for 5 mths over winter and I wondered if you knew of any visas they may need for a longer stay. I have a feeling I saw something in the past if guests stay more than 3 mths.

Long stay Cyprus visa

I'm not sure to be honest as lots of things have changed in recent years. There are many people who stay for 3 months plus over winter and as long as they are EU citzens, I don't think there is a problem. If you don't need a visa to enter the country, then a prolonged stay is fine I believe. If in doubt, get them to check with the Cyprus embassy in the UK.
