Cycling Holidays NO LONGER AVAILABLE After 18 years running our Wheelie Cyprus cycling and walking business we have retired. Holidays and bike hire are no longer available sorry. But you can stay in one of the fabulous hotels we used. See below.
Discover unspoilt north western Cyprus on a self guided cycling holiday. Navigate easily with a GPS unit attached to your hire bike. Luxurious accommodation awaits at the end of your ride.
Discover Deserted Villages
If you want to explore Cyprus by bike with a personal guide, at your own pace rather than having to stay with a group, why not try a self guided biking trip?
It's easy to navigate using the GPS unit supplied with your hire bike. All you do is choose the route for the day, press a button and the GPS will show you where to go.
In addition, the route guide and map supplied will highlight special places and points of interest, from the best place to order a frappé (Cyprus iced coffee) to the location of the best fruit trees - simply help yourself on route!
A self guided cycling holiday means you can cycle Cyprus at your own pace and your trip notes will include daily distances, the type of terrain (which is a mixture of asphalt and gravel tracks) and any height gains.
You don't need to be super-fit as there is also an optional "uplift" service available (payable locally) where you can be transported to the top of any major hills with your bike for all the gain without the pain!
The routes on this self guided cycling holiday have been carefully planned by experienced local guides who have lived on the island for ten years. The chosen routes will enable you to see the best scenery including the beautiful Akamas peninsula and Paphos forest, explore quiet mountain villages, stop at traditional coffee shops, folk museums and even sample some local wine at a village winery.
Self guided trips are available all year round and the choice is entirely yours as to when you travel. All you need to do is indicate your chosen dates on the form below in order to check hotel availability.
Tip: I recommend you avoid the hottest months of July and August. Not only will you fry in the heat, but the cost is higher as it is peak holiday season in Cyprus.
Explore the Akamas Peninsula by bike
Your full week's self guided cycling holiday in Cyprus will cost between £690 and £740 (approx 820 and 880) (based on two people sharing) depending on the season and includes:
7 nights hotel accommodation with breakfast including 2 nights at the eco-boutique hotel Droushia Heights.
Airport transfers from Paphos International Airport - Larnaca transfers are also available but cost extra.
Luggage transfers between the three different hotels.
Emergency telephone support service if you get lost or need help with your bike.
6 route guides with special places of interest and a GPS unit for easy route finding - it's optional to take a rest day if required.
High quality Trek front suspension mountain bike hire complete with GPS mount.
Seasonal adjustments apply. A single supplement will apply if travelling alone.
Flights and lunch/evening meals are not included in the above prices. Your hotel can provide you with a low-cost packed lunch.
The optional uplift service mentioned above costs 25 per lift for two people and their bikes.
Relax at the Droushia Heights Hotel
After a day exploring western Cyprus in the saddle, what better way to relax than in a luxurious setting with a fabulous view.
The Droushia Heights Hotel is the last of your 3 accommodation bases where you will spend the last two nights of your holiday. While there, you can enjoy a light gym session, chill out in your spacious room or the cosy lounge area, sample a cocktail from the bar or simply relax by the huge infinity pool when not on the bike.
The first two nights of your trip are spent at Paradisos Hills hotel high in the mountains on the edge of the magical forest just outside Lysos village.
For the following three nights you will be based overlooking Latchi harbour at the Y and P Latchi hotel, a simple yet charming stone property adjacent to one of the best fish tavernas in Latchi and possibly the whole of Cyprus!
