Lenya's restaurant in Asgata, Cyprus

The restaurant is run by a husband and wife team that hail from Zygi. However, they stress that they like to cook meat rather than fish and after a spell of running a very good restaurant in Monagroulli village, left for Asgata due to rising rents. The new restaurant, Lenya's, is just as good and if not better than the former one in Monagroulli.
The wife produces all the authentic Cypriot dishes which include stuffed pumpkin flowers, deliciously light but aromatic meatballs, a zuchini and egg dish amongst other wonderful dishes. The grilling of meat is the husband's domain and the lamb chops are large and sumptuous and so are the meat mezes. The house red wine is particularly good and powerful - so beware. This is a moderately priced if not budget restaurant and well worth an evening or two.
