Girls holiday in Ayia Napa, Cyprus 2011

by First Timer
(Uk)

I'm planning to go Ayia Napa as part of a group of 6/7 girls; we are all 18 so this is going to be our first holiday without families.

We wanted to go half board however as we are on a tight budget we are now considering self catering, so any information on food prices in the area would be helpful, aswell as any general information.

We were also wondering when would be the best time to book; we;re planning to go in July 2011, however prices seem to keep fluctuating on a daily basis.

Many thanks x

Self catering holiday in Ayia Napa
by: Helen (website owner)

July in Ayia Napa is peak season so you will pay the highest rates at this time. Self catering if you are in a group is a good, cost effective option as you can look for a 3 bed apartment or townhouse with a sofa bed (to sleep the 7th person).

There is a small selection of apartments in Ayia Napa on this site here or you can use THIS LINK to private apartments and villas in Cyprus to find a complete selection of private accommodation in the Ayia Napa area. "Private" means you book direct with the owner saving money as you don't need to pay a tour company any "commission."

Narrow your search when the page opens on the link by keying in Ayia Napa and put min 3 bedrooms/apartment etc to find what you want.

It's best to book as early as possible as in July/Aug the best accommodation goes quickly, especially if you are a large group. 1 and 2 bed places are usually available at the last minute but not the bigger places.

I suggest you budget on around ?25 euros per day for food/drink if you eat out but half that if you are prepared to cook pasta/cheap meals in your apartment for at least some of the holiday.

It's also much cheaper to drink alcohol (assuming you like a drink;) ) if you buy it in the supermarket eg. bottle wine in supermarket costs between ?3 and ?5 euros. In a restaurant it will be at least ?10 unless you drink the village wine which tastes awful - even that is still around ?8 per carafe.

For flights, look at Easyjet for cheap flights to Larnaca and book ASAP as the cheap sites go first.
Compare prices on our cheap flights page and get a quote from 2 or 3 companies before you book.

Enjoy your holiday!

Helen
