Bad experience with Decodecarrental.com in Cyprus

We would like to bring to your attention our experience with Decodecarrental.com .

On August 26 used your link to book hire car 13th -19th sept. Received booking voucher & Confirmation No. by email.

Arrived at Larnaca airport tired & expecting to be greeted by local rep with car. After looking for half an hour we phone local contact number. Person who answered the phone knew nothing about our booking.

When I asked what do I do, he replied go book an other car at desk. I booked a car with an alternative company at a much greater cost due to short notice. On Monday midday I tried to call the UK help desk number on our email, it rang out; I tried about twenty times up until Tuesday evening.

I have contacted my credit card provider & we are in the process of stopping payment witch was debited on 30/08/10. Just thought you should be aware of this in case decodecarrental.com are no longer in operation.

Well, it is indeed a great thing that you are doing by bringing up such an issue into public notice. This can be so useful to the travelers who are visiting Cyprus in the near future. Also, it will help to improve their service.

Care Hire in Cyprus

I wholly endorse Helen's comments - we have booked amd paid for car hire via Holiday Autos in the UK for as long as I can remember. This Christmas a Group A car for a week was about £75 base price - their partners in Cyprus are Andy Spyrou/Europcar and we've never had any problems. They have a dedicated desk at Paphos airport (so imagine they also have similar facilities at Larnaca)

Who to trust for car hire

Some time ago booked a car in Murcia from Holiday Autos (the last time!)
Never had such a bad experience before - awful service, no support at all and extra charges on every step!!! I wish I would known that before... Had to cut-off my family's budget for the vacation.

Dodgy car rentals in Cyprus and in general

I live in Cyprus, and only after I was involved in an accident with a rental car, did I realise that not all are insured. My advice: Use a reputable company. Pay with a credit card, keep all receipts. Most rental firms are excellent, but a few bad apples....Please don't think too badly of Cyprus.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the car hire firm.

I'm confused however as I don't recommend Decodecarrental and I'm not aware that any of the other possible links like Tripadvisor (with travel reviews) or Ebookers (flight and hotel reviews and booking engine) use them.

If you can remember which link you used on the site, please let me know either on this thread or via my contact form

I mainly recommend Easycar and Holiday autos both for car hire best prices and as they are large reputable firms you can trust.
